Continue ShoppingRaise Your Hand: The Day I Let My Introversion Take the Lead
It was 4 AM, and I was on a call with my accountability group of about 100 people. A daily question came up, one that fell right into my wheelhouse, drawing on over 15 years of my expertise. But at that moment, I didn't raise my hand. I didn't speak up. I allowed my introverted nature to overshadow an opportunity.
This incident brought to light an important lesson. In my course 'Before the Goal,' I include assessments like DISC, Love Languages, and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. These tools are meant to help us understand ourselves better—our gifts, our tendencies, our ways of interacting with the world. However, they are not meant to be crutches or excuses. They should empower us, not limit us. Understanding and accepting ourselves is crucial, but so is finding ways to integrate our unique styles into moving forward.
Instead of viewing my introversion as a setback, I see it as a reminder. It's a reminder that even though we might have tendencies that hold us back, we also have the strength to overcome them.
